August 4, 2009

Stuart – District 28 voters sent an overwhelming message tonight in sending Joe Negron to the Florida Senate. With most votes counted, Negron is the clear winner in the special election to replace retiring Senator Ken Pruitt.

“I am grateful for the voters’ decision to send me to the Florida Senate,” said Senator Negron. “I am so thankful for everyone who took part in this campaign – from the campaign team and volunteers to my family and friends. I also want to thank my friend, Ken Pruitt for his support. Together, we were able to claim victory tonight.”

Negron added, “Now that the election is over, it’s time to get to work finding solutions for the problems facing our state. I look forward to working with my new colleagues in the Senate and serving the people of district 28.”

Joe Negron previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2006, the last two years as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. Joe is an attorney with the statewide law firm of Akerman Senterfitt. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Martin County Chapter of the American Red Cross and presently is Chairman of the Safe Florida Foundation. Joe and his wife Rebecca live in Stuart and have three children.
